A Family Place is a 28 unit congregate family shelter that provides a number of services to assist families in locating and securing stable housing. Case management is available as well as workshops, classes, referrals, activities for children, homework assistance, and much more. Their goal is to assist each family in becoming self-sufficient and transitioned into stable housing as quickly as possible.

ABCD’s Head Start and Early Head Start programs helps children and their families prepare for success in school and life by providing high-quality early education. Children ages 3-to-5-years-old attend 23 Head Start sites across the city. Infants, toddlers and pregnant mothers get the support they need at Early Head Start Centers in Dorchester, East Boston and the South End. Year-round, extended-day programs enable parents to go to school or work. They offer comprehensive support for parents and children—including health services, nutrition and social services. Because Head Start knows that parents are the most important teachers; parents are deeply involved in the program. Parents are leaders in making policy and guiding programs, volunteering in the classroom and advocating for the needs of young children.
