Brien Center for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services free

We focus on helping families cope with life transitions, the full range of emotional and behavioral disorders, and developmental issues through outpatient psychotherapy, family and group therapy, medication evaluation and treatment, wrap-around care coordination, day treatment, and community-based acute residential treatment.

Our caring, professional treatment team assesses each young person to determine the best treatment options and level of care for their unique needs. We include the family throughout treatment, and we work in close collaboration with schools, treatment providers, and other agencies to ensure careful coordination of each child’s care and treatment.

Insurances Accepted – The Brien Center is an approved provider for most public and private health insurance plans. A sliding fee scale is offered for those who have no health insurance.

The Massachusetts Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program provides nutrition and health education and other services free of charge to Massachusetts families who qualify. WIC's goal is to help keep pregnant, breastfeeding women, and children under age 5 healthy. WIC offers: Personalized nutrition consultations, checks for healthy food, referrals for medical and dental care, health insurance, childcare, housing and fuel assistance, and other services that can benefit the whole family. WIC also offers immunization screenings and referrals, breastfeeding support, nutrition and health workshops on a variety of topics including meal planning, maintaining a healthy weight, picky eaters, caring for a new baby, and shopping on a budget.

Services include expanding the supply of affordable and low income housing, promotion of small business assistance, and neighborhood development through residential and commercial revitalization. BCD has a partnership with Partners for Community.

Each park also offers special events, nature activities, and educational programs for people of all ages and abilities all year long. Brimfield State Forest offers the following recreational opportunities: fishing, group day use, horseback riding trails, hunting, mountain biking, picnicking, skiing (cross country), swimming, and walking trails.

Funded through the Department of Early Education and Care, CFCE programs provide a variety of services, which include: providing families access to child development information, assistance with meeting basic needs, timely support in periods of family crisis, and family and community events. The Brockton CFCE is organized through the Brockton Public Schools.

They manage 1,951 apartments in 16 public housing developments throughout Brockton as well as 1000 rent-assisted apartments/houses. The approximately 85 employees of the BHA serve about 7,000 residents, or about 7% of Brockton's population. They also manage the Section 8 rental assistance program and help develop affordable private homes for ownership and rental that enable families to move beyond public assistance and become self-sufficient.
