7 Back-To-School Traditions to Start with Your Kids

Author: one tough job

Going back to school can be an exciting (and nerve-wracking) transition for both children and parents. While some children might be ready to go back, others might be anxious about returning. Either way, back-to-school traditions can help make the process enjoyable and give kids something to look forward to each year.

Here are some fun traditions to start with your children this fall!

1. Send your love

Pack your child a sweet treat with a note of encouragement to remind your child that she’s got this! This can help a lot if your child is nervous about her first day (and a sweet surprise never hurts!)

2. Take a photo

Snap a picture of your child on his first day. Every year you can look back and see how much he's grown.

3. Make pancakes

A "back-to-school" breakfast is a great way to get kids excited to go to school. You can also use this time to chat with your child about what she's looking forward to or what she's nervous about for her first day.

4. Surprise them

Plan an after-school surprise for your child on his first day. Pizza for dinner or an ice-cream treat will make the day even more memorable.

5. Celebrate

Decorate your child's door or backpack to celebrate the big day. This will show your child how proud you are of her accomplishments.

6. Capture the moment

Make a time capsule with some of your child’s favorite things at the time. Open it at the end of the year or at the beginning of the next to see how your child has changed.

7. Play a game

Use a school supply scavenger hunt to make getting ready for school fun. Your kids will be excited to use the supplies they found.
